Volunteer Opportunities
SPRING - SUMMER - FALL  [2007]

Here at the Foodbank we have great trust in and appreciation for our volunteers.
Certain expectations we have are important for you to know, in order to make your volunteer experience safe and satisfying to you and a real help in the community:

BY SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION YOU ARE AGREEING TO THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

1. I will not take food or items from the warehouse of the Idaho Foodbank. If I need food I will discuss the situation with a Foodbank employee.

2. I will wear appropriate clothing in the warehouse and at food drives, including closed-toed shoes and whatever protection I need against sun and cold.

3. At volunteer sites or the Idaho Foodbank warehouse, I will not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, nor will I bring them.

4. I understand that smoking is allowed only outdoors at the warehouse, and is not allowed in volunteer areas offsite.

5. I understand that no outside food or drink is allowed in the Foodbank warehouse, and that outside food and drink are to be consumed only in break rooms, conference rooms or outdoors.

6. I will be respectful and discreet in my behavior and conduct as a volunteer, especially towards agencies and clients who may be visiting the Foodbank.

7. I will notify Foodbank staff as soon as possible if I cannot serve as scheduled.

8. I will abide by Foodbank policies as they are communicated to me.

Please contact Cindy Fenn with any questions about our Volunteer Program, or to discuss new volunteer projects:

Office Volunteers . . .
Help answer phones, file, and perform other routine administrative tasks. Must be available to give us a morning or afternoon on a regular basis.

The Idaho Foodbank Warehouse . . .
Typical volunteer activities include sorting and re-boxing donated food. We literally could not adequately supply area front-line agencies with food if it were not for the dedication of thousands of volunteers.

Chefs to the Rescue . . .
Help us re-direct thousands of pounds of perfectly good, but over-prepared, food from local restaurants, stores, and caterers to feeding sites in the Boise area.

Grow A Row . . .
When you plant your garden in the spring, think of what one extra plant could mean for a hungry family. The produce you give The Idaho Foodbank will help many families and individuals in need of healthy, wholesome food.

Kids Cafe . . .
Across the nation, more than 300 Kids Cafes operate in 29 states and offer meals and educational activities. Kids Cafe programs operate in secure locations where kids naturally congregate, such as community centers, schools or Boys and Girls Clubs.
